Which is the true Robin Red Breast ?

As we in Sydney continue in lock-down with cases and deaths continuing to rise due to this extremely unbelievably contagious Delta strain, it has been wise to stay away from people as much as possible. Things can only get worse in the following days as we see the results of defiant non mask wearing anti-authoritarian anarchists begin to suffer the consequences of their foolish activity in their disgusting violent rally last weekend. It begs belief that people can be so selfish and foolish, only return home to possibly place their loved ones in danger of catching the virus.  That being said, I have chosen to focus on our beautiful red breasted Aussie Robins, which are the true Red Robins of our world, a title the European Robin has held throughout history. I decided to publish a chapter from my latest book “Flight of a Fledgling” to highlight not only the Robins but also a truth from which is gleaned: – the importance of integrity of character. This is a quality becoming less honored in today’s secular humanistic society. Click on the pages below to enlarge and read the text.

  1. Hello Ash,
I am still in the process of catching up on my favorite blog articles, and wanted to let you know that your beautiful robins are a joy of sunshine during these challenging times. I am so sorry to hear of the situation in your country. While there is no excuse for behaving selfishly and irresponsibly, I can also understand the anger and frustration due to job losses and ongoing stress. We are seeing stress levels and anger rising here too, and it is admittedly alarming. Keeping you and your wife and all your dear ones in our daily thoughts and prayers.

Please do continue to take care, and I just sent an update separately.
Have a safe and blessed week ahead.

    • Thanks Takami, yes it is a challenge here at the moment with so many enforced restrictions, and quite confusing as they change them from hour to hour at times and people are confused due to unclear messages to the public. There are heavy fines and even prison for non compliance. We just stay at home. We were supposed to have our holiday this week which was cancelled so my wife is home this week and we are having a quiet time together. The numbers continue to rise but thankfully we are fully vaccinated, but this Delta variant infects vaccinated people also. Thanks for your prayers, we continue to reciprocate the same. We hear how terrible things have become in Japan, especially Tokyo, especially seeing unmasked Tokyo people at the games watching our BMX champion win Gold. Our country is doing very well there. Stay safe my friend, and enjoy getting out in the sunshine for regular breaks.

  2. “Aussie Robins, which are the true Red Robins of our world…” Brother, does that mean that all the others are really different birds? Admittedly, the Aussie Robins are stunning!
This post pointed me to your 2nd book, which I do not have. Looking forward to receiving it!
Four weeks locked down? So glad you have a precious partner and esp the Lord in your midst. I pray that He inspires and uplifts you everyday.

    • Thanks Lisa Beth, recent publications reckon that all the worlds songbirds originated in Australia, but I am not convinced. However, if that is true it would mean that all the worlds birds are variations of similar species, they just have been given different names by different people in different lands. We are told that God created each after its own kind in the beginning, and me not being a proponent of evolution as a means of inhabiting the earth, still believe that natural selection is in play, with variations within a species, as Darwin would agree. Lovely that you bought my book for your mum, yes we are in a more severe lock-down as from last night as things further escalate due to the selfish actions a of a few with a further 4 weeks on top of the last. My wife is taking next week off for a break, as her work is very stressful at this time, and she needs a break from it, as we have already had 2 weeks in isolation, and were forbidden to leave our house in that period. Thanks for your always encouraging blessings, you comments are always the warm winter sunshine to my day dear sister, may our Lord grant an extra enjoyable weekend. 🙂

    • Thanks Deborah, delighted you like our red robins, they are just our red ones we have various other species of different colors. I feature the Eastern Yellow Robin on the cover of my recent book, it is also in my promo videos feeding its young. Our lock-down became more serious at midnight and we are now prevented from leaving our local government areas as the virus rages around about us. Not able to go birding as the lock-down is for a further 4 weeks, and is the result of selfish disobedient people who shirk at authority and responsibility to protect their loves ones. Have a blessed weekend and enjoy your summer warmth my friend 🙂

  3. Timely post Ashley! I have seen the shocking protests in Vic and NSW on TV and simply cannot understand those people, such disregard for their friends and family and fellow human beings and such disrespect for authority who are only doing their job and trying to keep everyone safe. And now your lockdown continues for another 4 weeks. I hope those people see some common sense soon and demonstrate good will to the community and follow the stay at home orders so this mess can finally be over. Wishing you the best during this time and hope you and your family remain safe.

    • Thanks Sue, so appreciative of your commiserative comment, yes it really depends on these rebels now to tow the line for a fast recovery. Trouble is they are still spreading the Delta as many more areas are struck, now we are included in the ‘steel ring’ and cannot leave our local council area for anything. My wife has to get tested every 3 days so she can work. Thankfully, I am writing my 3rd book, so it keeps me sane and busy along with my usual house duties. I never wanted to retire, I loved my job, but this is life and we count our blessings each day when we think of so much loss and grief in the world. Enjoy your weekend, and any sunshine you may get my friend. We really appreciate sitting in the sun on these cold days, watching our Primulus and resident Crested Pigeon family get watered and fed. 🙂

  4. And then we have our American Red Robin, that looks so different than yours! 😉 I love your robins, Ashley, they are adorable and bright. Ours appear to have attitudes with their looks and are larger. So sorry to hear about the violent rally, the news is full of reports on protests for just about everything everywhere, and then there’s crowd-gatherings for big events. It is mind-boggling, I just don’t get these people. You and your family keep safe, Ashley.

    • Thanks Donna, yes I like your American Robin it looks very smart and confident, and yes there is so much anger and frustration at present with the Covid and job and income losses, not to mention overdue holidays etc that it is just bubbling over. Enjoy your week my friend.
