  1. I wish all ‘alarm clocks’ were as beautiful as these kookaburras! I particularly loved the feeding video 🙂 I hope and pray that you will find the next steps on your intended path, whether it is writing your second book or something else. Hope to ‘see’ you soon back here, my friend.

    • Thanks so much Tiny, it has been some grieving missing the lovely people I worked with, but yes, the Lord dropped on me the mantle for writing the next book it is underway and I get inspirations all the time, especially in bed when I wake in the early hours. So I am waiting for some job applications, as I write. I have not had any good birding experiences of late so I have no fresh material. The Lord has granted this time as it is a less bird window for us anyway as we move into winter. Have a wonderful week my friend!

  3. Hi Ashley, I enjoyed your post on the lovable kooka, you captured this bird wonderfully in your photos, videos and recordings. I miss my kooka family back on the Gold Coast and sometimes wonder how they are doing. I have hardly seen or heard any kookas here in Tassie, and I only recently discovered that they are an introduced species down here, which was quite a surprise to me. I also wish you all the best in your future. It is true when they say, when one door closes another opens, so your future will reveal itself to you in good time. I have experienced this myself, especially in a situation where you just can’t imagine any other opportunity emerging and yet, it does. 🙂

    • Thanks Sue, yes Kookas are not normally Tassie birds, and i miss not hearing them in Sydney as much also. Yes, I am looking for new work, but grieving a little as are my colleagues from my previous job. I have been inspired again and am writing my second book in the interim. Enjoy the cooler months my friend!

  4. Love seeing the Kookaburra in zoos. When they get to laughing, they can’t help but lift your spirit, and put a smile on your face. Then again, I never wake up to them. Only roosters. 🙂

  5. Ashley, I will be praying for you as you face a new stage of your life/career. I know God will use your talents and desire to serve Him in just the right way and open just the right doors for you and your wife. My husband went through that 12 years ago, it is a true test of faith, but also an incredible witness to the incredible provision, care, and leading of a very loving and undeniable faithful Father!! I loved the post as always and look forward to your second book whenever the right time for that is. God bless you and your wife during this time. I will miss your posts, but certainly understand the need for breaks from time to time. May you both feel His love and peace as He guides you both. Many blessings, Jennifer

    • Thanks so much Jen, your encouraging comment means so much to us, and we are thankful for sisters and brothers as loving as you and your husband as we pray and encourage each other through the journey. I hope I will be back soon once I know where I am headed for the next leg of the journey. The loving Father heart of peace in the storm has been so comforting as the verse he gave me was ‘Be still, and wait for the Lord.” so I wait for his answer. Have a wonderful week dear friend!

  6. I have always enjoyed your Kookaburra photos; and I loved this post, Ashley! Beautiful captures and interesting information. Spectacular close-up shot of the Kookaburra with the lizard in its mouth. The video of the juvenile learning to call was so cute!

My thoughts and prayers are with you as you consider you’re next direction. Maybe it is time for a second book writing! With patience, God will inspire you and your new path. 🙏 Have an enjoyable week, my friend! And keep that camera in-hand!

    • Thank you so much dear Donna, I do appreciate your friendship and prayers, it is a tough time for me at present due to the sudden change. Yes many are asking when the second book will emerge, and I have to wait for God to give me the head space to immerse myself into it, for once he gives me the inspiration it will flow and develop freely. Enjoy your week also my friend! 🙂
